The new Abacus Corner buildings will be landscaped to compliment the greening planned for the riverside phases of Harbour Village. The Fastrack Road landscaping with trees and green verges will be extended along the new frontage. The pedestrian links running from the river to the Hive will be integrated with the planting of native trees as will parking spaces.

The pedestrian terraced walkways are being thoughtfully designed to reflect the area’s cement works history. Ideas include the Upper ‘Quarry’ terrace using limestone, the middle ‘Kiln’ terrace becoming a social space with a platform and brick bench, and the lower ‘Concrete & Water’ terrace, which transitions to Robins Creek, including permeable pavers and flowing plant beds leading onto the Fastrack’s verges and the Riverside Park beyond.

The utilities for Abacus Corner have been evolved to cause minimal impact. The commercial space will be serviced by means of a loading bay located off the Fastrack Road. Refuse stores will be located to the rear of the buildings. Residents living nearest College Road will have a refuse store opening on to the road to enable refuse collection. Residents in the other buildings will have refuse stores close to the internal Harbour Village road structure.

Detailed consideration has also been given to the parking strategy for Abacus Corner, along with Phase 3B of the original Harbour Village development. Combined, the two planning areas houses will have a parking ratio of 1.35 and apartments 0.54. Provision is also being made for 7 visitor spaces, along with a space for the staff of the commercial space. The diagram below shows the parking strategy.
