The Harbour Village project will transform the former Bevan’s Cement Works site into a new housing development, uplifted by green and community spaces. It will metamorphosise the land that stretches from the Hive to the Thames and from College Road to the Tarmac works into a vibrant place for everyone to enjoy. Below is a computer generated video impression of what Harbour Village will be like when finished.
The site was originally cliffs and derelict brownfield land. It was reshaped into a slope ready for the construction of new carefully landscaped roads and paths along with around 567 new homes (30% of which will be affordable homes). There will also be recreational areas including a new football pitch behind Lawn Primary school, a heritage park, a nature trail, a vantage point with views of the river and a footbridge over the road to Tarmac. A community centre will be built near the river which will face onto a wide promenade offering room for events as well as a riverside park area stretching along the banks of the Thames.
As part of a continuation of the project, we, Bellway Homes would like to add 65 new homes to Harbour Village by extending the development onto the neighbouring Abacus Corner site. Alongside this we plan to implement a small workshop unit at the site of Phase 1a on Factory Road, designed to look like a house. Click here to learn more.
